Costa Rica is a small Central American country of just 51,100 km2 of territorial extension. The country represents 0.03% of the planet's surface, contains 12 different life zones and has 4% of all species on Earth.
There are over 500,000 species of animals and plants for which our country is considered one of the 20 most biodiverse countries in the world.
Approximately 25% of the country through Protected Areas (National Parks, Biological Reserves, Protected Zones and others) is protected.
